_Third Eye Blind Comes Out of Hibernation with Ursa Major

With hits like “Semi-Charmed Life,” “How’s It Going to Be,” “Jumper,” and “Motorcycle Drive By,” late ‘90s alternative rock band Third Eye Blind still finds their hits streaming across radio waves.
Three albums, including one solely released on the internet, have followed since their eponymous debut CD, the most successful to date. Though sales were less than stellar, at least by industry standards, 3EB never disappeared – they were, as they like to think, hibernating.
Led by Stephan Jenkins and joined by Brad Hargreaves and Tony Fredanelli, the San Franciscan trio have aligned their own stars throughout their career and now connected to dots to form Ursa Major, their fourth studio album and first in six years.
Due out August 18th, Ursa Major, drummer Hargreaves explained, is a “culmination of all of our activity, including a lot of touring.”
Jenkins says on the band’s website, “Ursa Major is the bear waking up, hungry for spring and ready to feed and thrive.”
As Spring has turned to Summer, 3EB emerges to greet the Lehigh Valley August 4th at Musikfest.
Touring, Hargreaves said, creates “an opportunity to expose our fans to new music…as well as to crate that community where everyone can just sort of forget about what was going on the rest of the day and just get into the moment. That’s what we’re really about.”
Third Eye Blind has proven themselves to feed and thrive in an ever-changing industry and hopefully sees their future as just a bit more than semi-charmed.
